Movie Review : The Art Of Getting By (2011)

I've been waiting for this movie to come out (on "unofficial" dvd of course) since the first time I watched the trailer. I instantly falling in love with Freddy Highmore character, he's unique and have his own mind about life, I just really into that kind of character. I don't know how many times I watched the trailer over and over again until 2 weeks ago I found it. It's just like finally found the needle in a haystack. So happy, I ran home and watched it.

For a quick info, The Art Of Getting By is about a boy named George played by all grown up and turns to be very handsome, Freddy Highmore. George got his own interpretation about life and all that happen it in. He thinks that everything is meaningless because someday we all gonna die, so whats the point of working very hard if in the end we're not gonna bring it when we die (that's a good point anyway). So basicly he just live day by day ordinarily until one day he met Sally played by pretty woman's niece Emma Roberts. As their friendship grew, George starts to rethink about things that he do and find the meaning of it. I guest from there you know where this is going, right? so let's just go to the review then.

From the character, I totally in love with George and his mind. The way he thinks life is meaningless, pointless, dont know what we're doing here on earth but still feeling alive is amaizing. After all that thought, never crossed his mind to take his own life eventhough he thinks that way. Basicly he isn't depressed or stressed, just skeptic and it really got me. I spend all day thinking about George thought after watching this movie. And the storyline really helps you see how George shape his mind and the changes that happen in it, really simple and totally focus on the character. Freddy Highmore can capture a tortured soul, heavy minded boy that enjoys life just as he pleased. But the one that I dont get is Sally. I think the reason that she's here is not strong enough. They pictured it like she can make George change his mind but only because of her present and her friendship, I really wish Sally have her own opinions that really really could make George do that. Sometimes they pictured Sally like somekind of girl that wishy washy, don't know what she wants. And Emma Roberts really do it very well. Eventhough in this movie the main actors are still young but they played it very good and the chemistry is excellent.

Sooooo without furhter a do, I would like to give this movie 5 stars out of 5. Maybe if you like teenage drama that not cheesy and to many dillema you could check this one out.

Movie Review : Midnight in Paris (2011)

Woody Allen did it again. He made a wonderfull movie that could connect very well with the city. Maybe we still could remember very well how his movie "Vicky Cristina Barcelona" is very memorable and made us want to go there and maybe could meet such a rare lady as Maria Elena. The characters are very real and also the problem too but the drama that he represent are very unique and looks complicated but still attractive to us.
And now, still in european country, Woody Allen serve us the beautiful sight of Paris at night and the magical thing that happen in there. The story is so simple, it's about a writer, Gil Pender played by Owen Wilson is on vacation with his fience, Inez played by Rachel McAdams in Paris. Gil is confuse about his life and being dictated by his fience and didn't know how to deal with it, until one night when he strolling the streets of paris and suddenly he's in the past, 1920s to be exact. He met with many legendary people that inspire him such as Piccaso, Hemmingway, F.Scott Fitzgerald, Salvador Dali and beautiful girl that stole his attention, Adriana. This journey to the past that he took everyday make him realize about alot of things in life, especially about always looking back in life, living in the past.
I love how simple this movie is, the character that really appear in real life, the sight of paris in the golden era, the famous people that brought back to life, just awesome. This movie stuck in my head for days. Woody Allen movie always filled with famous names and their acting skills is no doubt about it.

Overall maybe you could see my love for this movie is very strong so no wonder I will give this movie 5 Stars out of 5, because this movie really is amaizing. Oh and I love the soundtrack too, should totally check that out.

Movie Review : X-Men First Class (2011)

I never feel this glad after watching a movie like I feel after I watch this movie. Since the first day they annouce the cast ensemble I always follow their updates until one day come the trailer. It really blows my mind! I thought this movie gonna be sooooo cccoooolllll. So patiently I wait for this movie to come out. Then come the bad news! It will not be played in this dull country. So day after day while waiting for the situation to change (which is not until this day and anytime soon I think) to satisfy my curiosity about this X-men latest series, I watched the trailer over and over again until finally I found my way out to watch this movie, and it happen today!!! Just sooo happy, finally!
Yeah so that a quick story about my strong desire to watch this movie, I think that's enough so let's get to the game.

X-Men First Class basicly it's about the history of professor X and Magneto. How they first a brother then became an arch enemy and story how the form a gang full of incredible mutan. It's really informative for us X-men lovers. I really like how the picture the friendship between charles xavier and erik lehnsherr that actually they not hate each other, they just agree to disagree that they want different things for mutans. And the relationship between charles and raven is actually really good. It's funny how people that charles consider as his family are actually the one that differences with him. I really like the storyline of this movie.
For the acting, James McAvoy is perfect. He can capture the naivity of young professor x that being mutan is great but it's because he can easily hide his ability and still feels that he's normal. And Michael Fassbender really picture the sorrow and bitterness that form him to become this very dangerous mutan that can't be control even by professor x. There also three young actors that really attract my attention.
First is Jennifer Lawrance (of course) the most talked actress of this year after being
nominated in oscar, she got pick as leading actress in "The Hunger Games".
Her acting as the young mystique that looking for her identity is amaizing. The second
is Nicholas Hoult as Hank McCoy the genius inventor that turn into Beast. His growth
from a little boy in "About a boy" to the famous need-parental-guide teens tv series
"Skins" and the last is in this movie are absolutly stunning. Then the last is none other
than January Jones, the golden globe nominator but I'm not here to talk about her acting
in this movie cos obviously good, not great but good enough. She made a headline
before the opening of X-men not because her acting skill is because her pregnancy
news that rumored the father of that baby is the director himselve Mattew Vaughn.
Wow this girl really know how to promote her movie huh. But anyway enough with
the gossip.

Now the conclution is this movie, X-Men First Class is THE BEST x-men series ever!
I give them 5 stars out of 5. You X-men lovers out there should really check this movie
out! Cos beside you can know the history, you also can see Hugh Jackman and Rebbeca
Romijn as cameo in here.

Movie Review : Never Say Never (2011)

Bieber Fever! It's an epidemic that's been going on in teens all over the world since last year. It happen like in the movie 'The Ring' but without the haunting and killing part of course. You watch a video about this talented (I have to admitted he is) boy, Justin Bieber, who sing cover song then you share it to your friends then she / he share it again to her / his friends and so on, just like being pictured in the opening scene of movie called 'Never Say Never'

Just take a look of that cute little boy, with that face of course he can hypnotoze a million girls around the world! But dont worry, I'm not catching that fever, just because I watch this movie. Not before or even after watching it.

So basicly this movie is about series of footage of Justin Bieber, from he was just a kid from Canada who likes to post a video of his performance until he's famous like now and also his concert in Madison Square Garden last year. It's just like watching E! true hollywood story but longer duration.

But I can say that this kid is something. He got everything to be a superstar and could be bigger years to come just dont do anything stupid. So I will give this movie 3 stars out of 5 and here's some warning for you, maybe just MAYBE after you watch this movie you will grow a little love for him cos I can see that  starting to happen to my sister.

Movie Review : I Am Number Four (2011)

This is the number two movie that I get illegaly from... So glad I get it because if I have to wait on theater that wouldn't happen, guarantee 100%. It's not like I wanted to watch this movie so much but it's nice to have a new movie to watch.

'I Am Number Four' is almost like superman. It's an alien who come to earth because their home planet is being destroyed by another freaky not good looking aliens. The different is they come in grup, there's 9 of them and to killed them, they have to do it orderly. The movie started when it's time for the number four alien to be killed but wait, he's not just an ordinary alien (of course he's not!) he's the alien who got more power that the others, the special one because it wouldn't be fun if he goes down without a fight. And also he got girl to protected, his love ones and bla...bla..bla... you probably know how is it. Just watch the trailer you will get the story.

But what makes me wanna watch the movie is first because Dianna Agron is in it. I'm a glee fans so of course I wanna know how is her act outside from glee. Second because it seems that there's a good action - fighting scene it in and there is. My favourite is when Alien Number Six came and show off what she can do, is totally awesome cos she's a girl and totally stealing the spot light from number four. Number Six is played by Teresa Palmer, the girl who in a flash looks like Kirsten Steward.

I give this movie 3 stars out of 5 because it's just a teen drama movie with alien power but D.J. Caruso could make it look good and interesting but not with the story, just too predictable. But if you're a fans of the novel you should totally check it out.

Movie Review : Waiting For Superman (2010)

FINALLY! I watched a decent movie, all thanks to some illegal source that I better not mention but if you lived in Indonesia you probably know what it is. And for this special honour goes to documentary movie that's being talked of early this year. From the director of 'An Inconvenient Truth' he present 'Waiting For Superman'

'Waiting For Superman' is not a movie about the glory of Superman (cos somepeople might think like that). This movie is about the educational system in America but not about how good it is, because as all we know America is one of the superpower country in the world and we practicaly think that they're good because they've been taught that way. But actually not! In this movie you see with you're own eyes how bad it is. The Teachers, the schoold building, and the worst is the system, their educational system. It's just so complicated that in the end American students didn't get the education that they deserve and only few bunch of them made it and graduated from 4 years college.

So David Guggenheim filmed 5 students that have a big hope for their future but being thwarted by this crooked system and a bad teachers. They all go to public school that basicly isn't good enough and the only solution so they could have their dream of becoming something they they to move to a better school, a school with hundreds applicants but only few will be accepted so they draw a lottery. SO BASICLY THEY HANG THESE KIDS FUTURE ON A ROLL OF DICE or a ball in this case.

As a teacher, my heart just break apart after watching this movie. To know dreams from alot of kids could died because of those kind of teachers and system when actually it could be reach so easily. I know Indonesia's educational system maybe even worst then they are because we are a third world country after all but to know on such a superpower country like that, these problem isn't solved for many years are just sad, it's like we're being fooled to be that great people come from America,we have to be like that country to have a better life when actually it's not. Education is important, it's the key of better future and better life.

I rated this movie 5 stars out of 5 because the content very informative and educative. Should totally watch this movie, especially educators out there. This movie is like a give to us.
