Movie Review : Love and Other Drugs (2010)
By the sound of the title you could tell that the story gonna be surround with drugs. But don't worry it's not gonna be like Jhonny Depp "Blow" or any other movie that connect with illegal drugs. Actually the story is about a guy, Jamie played by Jake Gyllenhal, that really good with talking, he can get people to buy the things that he sell and the most important is to get girl's phone number and get laid. That's the thing that he really believe he good at, nothing more. Until one day he got a chance to become a pharmaceutical sales (here is where the drug came in) and he trying really hard to sell them when he met this beautiful, free spirit, and having stage one parkinson's young lady name maggie (just like Jake's real life sister name) played by Anne Hathaway. They met, they feel connection, in bed department, at first then after a while doing it the real drugs kicking in which is Love and then things getting hard from there.
Actually there's two things that getting hard in here. The first is Jamie staring to selling viagra, the famous drug for male performance (in these case you know what I mean with getting hard right?) and became rich because of it. Then the second thing that hard is their relationship, the more their open up about themselve the more vulnerable they became because these two messed up kids never know anything about real feeling. So yeah pretty much that's what I can tell about "Love and Other Drugs"

Now to the real review. This movie has been nominated in 2 Golden Globe award for the most daring performance by Anne Hathaway and the most sexy performance (the one in brokeback mountain really doesn't count) by Jake Gyllenhal. These two actors really go total on this movie. They just cut their nerve then go naked in front of each other in many scene. Dude, I mean I even can't believe that Anne Hathaway want to do this kind of scene. So, no doubt on the acting part because Golden Globe already porve it.
I know sometimes is hard to see pass to the main story when there's just so many, I mean alot of sex, nudity, PG-13 scenes flowing around the movie. I know, it's kinda spoiler that I write about that but I just can't believe it, so just consider this as a warning (yeah right? I think people more exciting to watch this movie after reading this) then luckily I can get my focus back to the story. The flow is really slow and fun. You will see two people who at first just wanna have fun then caught up with their own feeling. The feeling to be needed and need somebody beside you, that they just to scare to face it.
So overall I'm gonna rate this movie : 4 stars out of 5. The story is fun wiht deeper meaning, jake and anne really good with their acting and THE scene, you should watch it by yourself.

the 83rd Academy Awards Winner Prediction
6 more days to the most waited event on movie industries. It's the 83rd Academy Awards!!! If you already see the nomination you will see there's been a change in Best Picture category, they added 5 more movies which I think it's kinda greedy. Movies need to win, not just nominated. Ah anyway this time hopefully my prediction is getting more accurate cause I've already watched most of the movie that been nominated so I hope my judgement also right. Let's just get this think started shall we...
Actor in a Leading Role :
Colin Firth in "The King's Speech"
He already win in many awards because of his role in this movie so I guest no doubt everybody pick him to be the winner.
Actor in a Supporting Role :
Jeremy Renner in "The Town"
I know I predict him as winner in this category at the Golden Globe before and wrong, but I still believe in him. So Jeremy I predict that you could win this time!
Actress in a Leading Role :
Natalie Portman in "Black Swan"
Maaaaannnn there's no doubt she will win this award! that pregnance bring her a lot of luck!
Actress in a Supporting Role :
Melissa Leo in "The Fighter"
as much as I want Helena Bonham Carter and Hailee Steinfeld to win but Melissa has the bigger chance and I admited that her act is really good. But if Academy Award like something different maybe they would pick Hailee as the winner, that teenage girl will be living in teenage dream if she win.
Directing :
"Black Swan" Darrren Aronofsly
Dont worry man, eventhough you're lose in so many awards but my high hope still with you, I really loves black swan. But there's big chance that he will lost to David Fincher.
Best Picture :
"Black Swan” Mike Medavoy, Brian Oliver and Scott Franklin, Producers"
actually this is a tough choice cos there's a lot of great movie in this nomination. I really love to see "True Grit" or "127 hours" winning but my prayer are still the same, which is Black Swan come out as the winner of the best movie of the year! I'm so boycotting facebook if "The Social Network" win again.
There's all the prediction that I can make. Hopefully they all correct and I know some of my choice are based on my favourite but still I believe they deserve to win. So let's wait and see on the 28th of February which is monday morning here, you can watch it on Star Movies

Movie Review : The Green Hornet (2011)
First I really have to say this, YOU DON'T HAVE TO WATCH IT ON 3D! really waste of money. I don't, and I can tell there's no big differens in it anyway so better save your money to buy a popcorn or nachos. For you who didn't know the story yet, you just go to youtube and watch the trailer because after watching it maybe you probably could sum up the story cause yeah pretty much there already.
For me personally the story is really shallow. It's about a spoiled heir who shock by the death of his father then team up with his late dad's driving who made a great coffee and awesome gadget, but without heroic reason. Then yada yada yada they fight the bad guy then win. Now the different is they do it in style, with a lot of sillyness, great fighting scenes, cool cars, and Jay Chou. All of that maybe could fill the whole for that lack of thrill in the story.
The actors, yeah let's talk about that. The only name that really got me interest about this movie is Jay Chou. It's his first movie in Hollywood and he even can't talk in english but he could manage it and pretty good accent that he made. He also don't have basic martial art eventhough he's from asia but because he can dance so that really help I think. But it just so cool to see Jay Chou in hollywood and I really wish to see him more rather then "My name is Wein (Rain)". For Seth Rogen this kinda movie is pretty much his area expertise but plus the action and for being silly, he still good at it. The best cameo is from James Franco! love his appearances.
So overall I'm gonna give this movie 3,5 stars out of 5. 0,5 because of James Franco and the other 3 is for Jay Chou acting, their really really cool cars and the sillyness.

Movie Review : 127 Hours (2010)
Calling all the adrenaline junkie, extreme sport lover and mountain climber out there! If 'Man VS Wild' is not scary enough for you or made you want to go to wild life even more, maybe after seeing this movie, it will change your mind a little bit. Well at least to me, it does. Me, the one who rarely camping or even climb a mountain. Another lovely movie by Danny Boyle the Oscar winner for Best Director for his movie 'Slumdog Millioner' who's my friend think that doesn't deserve it (he still hold his gruge anyway) title '127 Hours'
As you probably already hear and read the real story about Aron Ralston being trapped for 127 hours in a canyon because his hand is stuck with a giant rock. Now visually you can see how it is the things going down. From the morning that he packed his things to go canyoneering alone until how he got trapped. For me it's very lovely, you can see that aron ralston is a man that really likes extreem sports, climbing and exploring canyon. He's very friendly too, you could see that when he met two college girl that lost and he helped them by showing the way to get to the place that they wanted. Then after that his luck ran out, his hand got stuck in a rock. For me this movie is more emotional than drama movie, especially when he have to cut his own hand, I nearly cry. So sad. and brave.
I really love how Danny Boyle build our suspense little by little. Like from the minute Aron got stuck, first he didn't think it was a big deal but then when he realize he can't get out he scream for help, after that he realize again that no one would hear him and that's when the real adventure begin. Aron start going crazy but by using his imagination and memory he's trying to still hold control of his mind.
Danny Boyle chose to colaborate with his fellow oscar winner A.R. Rahman to arrange the music, and that's is a great decision. I really like the songs that he chosses.
For the leading actor, James Franco, it is a really step up of his acting career. He really have to explore himself because he's alone in this movie. He can capture a desperate man cos got stuck, a frustrated man cos his time is running out, a man that feel guilty about very single thing that he does before he went canyoneering, a man that just realize what he got in his whole life. Very good acting, really love him. No wonder he could got nominated into Golden Globe and Oscar for best actor.
So overall I give this movie 4,5 stars out of 5. Hopefully James Franco could win an Oscar eventhough the other nominee is really good too.

Movie Review : Blue Valentine (2010)
Ryan Gosling. What is the first though that come to your mind when hearing that name? Mine would be The Notebook. That sad sad love story just really can not be forgoten. He and Rachel McAdams become one hot real life couple and win best kiss on MTV Movie Awards. Now he's back with brand new drama sad love story and with new love interest starring Michelle Williams.
Blue Valentine is about a couple and on the edge of seperation, it's all because the husband, Dean ( Ryan Gosling) is an alcoholic that too comfortable with his life, think that everything that he have is enough and it's everything that he ever wanted. By thinking like that he starting to irritate his wife, Cindy (Michelle Williams) who one thing that she ever wanted is to have a different lives that her mother, she didn't really want to fall in love because she scared to have a family then ended up like her mother. But then something happen that change her mind and her life.
Basicly Blue Valentine is sad love story about two people that at first really falling in love then life happen. They start to grow apart, have differences in life goals and there's always someone who want more than the other. For a few minute after I watched the movie, I'm started to think Ryan Gosling repeating his role in the notebook. There's a few scene to that looks like in The Notebook too, like the one that Dean treat to jump if Cindy didn't tell the secret that she wants to tell, it's just like when Ryan Gosling asking Rachel McAdams to go out with him. But from acting, Ryan Gosling in here is far much better than in The Notebook. You can see that he more grown up, really exploring his emotion. No wonder he got Golden Globe nominee for this role, but tooooooo bad didn't make it in Oscar nomination.
For Michelle Williams who starting to play in serious movie (Dawson's Creek really doesn't count) her acting is very total. You can see that in some scene that made this movie become rated R, no but seriously her acting is really good. She can capture a wife that had enough with his husband because she want more, she want a better life, happier life not this steady life that she have. For her role she got nominated on Golden Globe too bad had to lose to Natalie Portman but she got another chance in Oscar for the same nomination which is 'Best Actress'.
Overall I'm gonna give this movie 3 stars out of 5. All because Ryan and Michelle acting really good and convincing and that steamy sexy sex scene that make them got nomimee on 2 precious awards.

Movie Review : Buried (2010)
Just from reading the title maybe you already knew what kind of movie is this. Yes it's about a man how trapped in some small place. Kinda reminded me with Colin Farrell's 'Phone booth', but if in 'Phone booth' the main character taking hostage in a phone booth while talking with the kidnapper and he did it because to give lesson to colin farrell. In 'Buried' who played by Ryan Reynolds, he got kindapped and buried in coffin somewhere in the desert with only companied by one blackberry (does it has to be blackberry anyway?), a lighter, a flash light, two glow in the dark stick and a snake! what a lovely company from that animal.
Watching this movie for almost one and a half hour does not boring to me and it's kinda intense. You should know that from the beginning through the end you will only see one face, which is Ryan Reynolds face nad some voices over the telephone. Thank god he have good looking face and convencing acting so it could make us believe that he's really desperate, frustrated and slowly become hopeless. I like the way Rodrigo Cortés, the director, taking angle and work the camera so we can see how small the coffin is and try not to keep us bored eventhough the setting and the actor only one in there.
overall im gonna give this movie : 3.5 star out of 5, because the acting and the story plus the suprising ending (spoiler much)
