Movie Review : 127 Hours (2010)

Calling all the adrenaline junkie, extreme sport lover and mountain climber out there! If 'Man VS Wild' is not scary enough for you or made you want to go to wild life even more, maybe after seeing this movie, it will change your mind a little bit. Well at least to me, it does. Me, the one who rarely camping or even climb a mountain. Another lovely movie by Danny Boyle the Oscar winner for Best Director for his movie 'Slumdog Millioner' who's my friend think that doesn't deserve it (he still hold his gruge anyway) title '127 Hours'

As you probably already hear and read the real story about Aron Ralston being trapped for 127 hours in a canyon because his hand is stuck with a giant rock. Now visually you can see how it is the things going down. From the morning that he packed his things to go canyoneering alone until how he got trapped. For me it's very lovely, you can see that aron ralston is a man that really likes extreem sports, climbing and exploring canyon. He's very friendly too, you could see that when he met two college girl that lost and he helped them by showing the way to get to the place that they wanted. Then after that his luck ran out, his hand got stuck in a rock. For me this movie is more emotional than drama movie, especially when he have to cut his own hand, I nearly cry. So sad. and brave.
I really love how Danny Boyle build our suspense little by little. Like from the minute Aron got stuck, first he didn't think it was a big deal but then when he realize he can't get out he scream for help, after that he realize again that no one would hear him and that's when the real adventure begin. Aron start going crazy but by using his imagination and memory he's trying to still hold control of his mind.
Danny Boyle chose to colaborate with his fellow oscar winner A.R. Rahman to arrange the music, and that's is a great decision. I really like the songs that he chosses.
For the leading actor, James Franco, it is a really step up of his acting career. He really have to explore himself because he's alone in this movie. He can capture a desperate man cos got stuck, a frustrated man cos his time is running out, a man that feel guilty about very single thing that he does before he went canyoneering, a man that just realize what he got in his whole life. Very good acting, really love him. No wonder he could got nominated into Golden Globe and Oscar for best actor.

So overall I give this movie 4,5 stars out of 5. Hopefully James Franco could win an Oscar eventhough the other nominee is really good too.
